My name is Alison Koehler and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with a masters in counseling psychology. I have over 20 years of experience in the mental and behavioral health field. I maintain a private practice in Gurnee, IL and work with a broad spectrum of clients including children, adolescents, individual, couples and family therapy.
Throughout my years in private practice, I have worked with many clients who have anxiety issues, depression, self esteem, stress related issues, separation, divorce and marital issues, children and adolescents with depression, ADHD, ODD and more. I believe strongly in the relationship between the client and the therapist in order for change to occur. Each person is different and we experience things differently, no matter how common a situation may be to others. I take that into account rather than lumping clients into a diagnoses and general treatment plan. A more eclectic and down to earth approach seems to work best with my clients as change occurs all the time. I give very honest and forthcoming feedback to help my clients gain insight into themselves and the dilemmas they face.
I work very interactively and am solution-focused with clients. With my therapeutic approach, support and practical feedback, I help my clients effectively address personal life challenges. I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. With compassion and understanding, I work with each client to help them build on their strengths, relationships and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.
